Provincial Councilor Marco Tittler counters the allegations by Michael Ritsch.

Bregenz Mitte: The dispute between the city of Bregenz and the state of Vorarlberg develops into an open exchange of blows.

After the publication of internal emails that put the responsible regional councilor Marco Tittler in a bad light, the counterattack now follows. The ÖVP politician was accused of deliberately withholding the feasibility study on Bregenz Mitte commissioned jointly by the city of Bregenz and the state.

Mayor Ritsch thus also justified the short-term cancellation of the city council meeting planned for last Thursday. The “mayor for everyone” received a lot of criticism for this, for example Deputy Mayor Sandra Schoch (Greens) accused him of amateurism, City Councilor Veronika Marte accused him of not being up to his job.

Provincial Councilor Marco Tittler firmly rejects allegations

After the e-mail became known, with which representatives of the city of Bregenz imputed an “information ban” to the state council, Marco Tittler reacted and played the ball back and published the e-mail traffic, in which both the state and the state capital gave the green light for publication. Whether the statement can be interpreted as an official release remains a stumbling block.

Mail traffic between the state of Vorarlberg and the city of Bregenz

The mail from the state of Vorarlberg is about a release in relation to the completion of the study.

The city of Bregenz gave the go-ahead for publication and requested twelve copies in paper form.

Lack of communication, despite consensus on content?

“It was never about stopping internal communication, especially not with the city council, but simply about a coordinated approach to the publication of the study results,” informs State Councilor Tittler when asked by VOL.AT.

The ÖVP politician continues: “Since there are no discrepancies in content between the two clients, the city of Bregenz and the state of Vorarlberg, a corresponding discussion of the content in the city council meeting could have taken place from our point of view. The mayor could have asked the provincial council at any time , before sending a letter to the city council to inform the state that the reason for a meeting being postponed.”

The state has also promised to publish the study results by the end of January, which could have happened at any time if the mayor had asked.
