Trump faces charges for trying to nullify the 2020 election

Several new charges hang over former President Donald Trump for his efforts to interfere in the 2020 election, according to charges filed in Washington, D.C., District Court.

Special counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the investigations, points to the former president for a conspiracy to try to nullify the 2020 election, in addition to conspiring to threaten the rights of other people.

He is also charged for his attempt to obstruct an official procedure before Congress on the qualification of the Electoral College votes, as well as for the obstruction of an official procedure.
