The tax notices apply to the six years Trump was president of the United States, and mark the end of a year-long political and legal tug-of-war over access to Trump’s finances.
Trump refused to release his tax returns when he ran for president, and fought to keep them secret while in the White House.
The publication comes after a budget committee in the US House of Representatives voted to make public the former president’s tax returns. Some personally sensitive information has been edited.

In November, the US Supreme Court declined to intervene to halt the release of Trump’s tax records, after courts said the House of Representatives had the power to subpoena the documents from the IRS.
Previously, it has been known that Trump paid 1.1 million dollars in taxes in two of his years in the White House, but almost nothing in the other two.
– Terrible things
Trump lashed out at the decision in a statement.
– The Democrats should never have done it, the Supreme Court should never have approved it, and it is going to lead to terrible things for so many people, says the former president.
– The tax returns show once again how successful I have been and how I have been able to use depreciation and various other tax deductions as an incentive to create thousands of jobs and magnificent structures and businesses.

According to a review by the New York Times in 2020, Trump’s tax returns for 2016, when he was elected president, and 2017 showed that he only paid $750 (over NOK 7,000) in taxes.
The newspaper went through 20 years of Trump’s tax returns – in ten of the previous 15 years, Trump paid no taxes. Trump’s reasoning was that in these years he had greater losses than income.
Then committee chairman Neal said that the New York Times case shows how important it is that Congress gets access to Trump’s tax returns in connection with the case that has been opened against him.
– This case shines a bright light on the enormous difference between people with power and influence and an ordinary American when it comes to the tax system, Neal said then.
