A social network Twitter is involved in a new controversy, after having removed the ‘blue seal’ from accounts of figures such as the Pope, Donald Trump or Beyoncé, since they refused to pay the ‘badge’.
Now, in an effort to offer free verification to the accounts of major organizations, Twitter has shot itself in the foot by giving a ‘gold seal’ – to a fake Disney account, @DisneyJuniorUK, which is now suspended.
Pages with a gold ‘badge’ are assigned to companies.
According to Variety, the follower count and content didn’t seem to match official Disney branding. Incidentally, the account itself published: “This is not real, right?”

After being ‘decorated’, the account gained more than 3,000 followers.
Disney may have asked this unofficial account to be affiliated, however, more likely Twitter just ‘offered’ the brand on its own without properly verifying the page’s content.
