Two people trapped in a sinkhole are rescued after being discovered by a resident flying a drone

DENVER, Colorado – A Brighton resident flying his drone to capture images of recent flooding in Weld County, Colorado ended up saving the lives of two people trapped in a sinkhole.

Colorado State Patrol The CSP said a vehicle was discovered upside down in a sinkhole on Saturday. This resident’s fondness for drones allowed him to observe the overturned vehicle and call 911 for help.

A man and a woman were trapped inside an overturned car in the newly formed hole in the Highway 2 bridge. The vehicle was in a dangerous position and water was rapidly accumulating.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Brighton Fire Department worked to remove the SUV from the sinkhole, while CSP is investigating the accident.

The area was closed off to fill in the sinkhole and fix the road.
