Operation against illegal car racing in Miami-Dade ends with 11 arrests

Agents from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) and the Office of Homeland Security carried out an operation to stop illegal street takeovers for car racing and made 11 arrests this Saturday morning, including a 17-year-old.

According to a press release, multiple law enforcement agencies joined the collective effort to curb illegal street racing and were able to seize two firearms, four vehicles and issue 17 citations, along with 11 arrests.

Miami-Dade Police said that upon arrival in the area, which had been closed by race organizers, several cars were doing the well-known “donuts” (180° turns at high speed) and others were driving at high speed.

Some of the people arrested were: Marcel Johnson, male, 28 years old, arrested for reckless driving/drag racing/driving on a suspended license/carrying a concealed weapon. Ariel Kain, 19, arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. Ashley Luna, male, 19 years old, resisting an officer without violence. Bradley Rodríguez, 19-year-old man, arrested for allegedly participating in drag racing and reckless driving.

After further investigation, police were able to locate and arrest 39-year-old Calix Green, male, after he sped from an officer during a traffic stop, according to the arrest report.
