The merengue squad began by winning the game thanks to a goal from Alex Valera 20 minutes into the first half. This is the first goal for the striker of the Peruvian team since his return to the cream institution.

Universitario’s second goal was scored at minute 89 by Emmanuel Herrera. The Argentine attacker also made his debut as a scorer in a cream shirt.

Finally, the game ended 3-1, being the second consecutive defeat of the ‘U’ on Chilean soil. Days before, Universitario fell 1-0 against Curicó Unido in the ‘Albirroja Night’.

In the ‘Cream Night’ there was not much luck either since, after presenting their 2023 squad at the Monumental Stadium, the meringues drew 0-0 with Aucas from Ecuador. The only victory of the ‘U’ in this season of friendlies was the 2-0 win against the César Vallejo University in the ‘Noche Poeta’ with goals from Luis Urruti and Andy Polo.
