According to SMHI’s forecast for the next ten days, more precipitation is expected, which means that there is a risk that the water level could rise quickly in Lagan. In the worst case, water can enter properties located in risk areas near the watercourse. Värnamo municipality therefore urges residents on its website to check, among other things, basement spaces.

Measures the level continuously

Between Åbron and Gröna bron in Värnamo, continuous measurements of the water level take place and yesterday, January 3, the level in Lagan had risen by 15 cm in just one day.

The normal water level is 143.5 above sea level but right now the level is about 145 meters above sea level. The maximum level in Lagan was reached in July 2004 when Värnamo had major problems with flooding. At that time, the level was just over 147 meters above sea level.
