The Dutchman won at the Roubaix velodrome, notably against his rival Wout van Aert, who suffered a puncture in the last kilometers on Sunday.
He dreamed of it, he did it. Big favorite at the start of the race, Mathieu van de Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) did not tremble on the cobblestones of the North of France to brilliantly offer himself his first Paris-Roubaix, Sunday April 9. The Dutch cyclist slipped into the heart of a leading group of contenders for victory, before escaping solo at the opportune moment 16 kilometers from the finish, taking advantage of a puncture from his main rival, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma).
