Ankara.- Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky will meet this Friday in Istanbul with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to discuss the war caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the agreement to export grain through the Black Sea, the validity of which expires. within eleven days.

“During the talks, the latest events related to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and relations between the two countries will be discussed,” says the official Anadolu agency.

He indicates that during the meeting the agreement that since the summer of 2022 allows the export of grain from Ukrainian ports through the Black Sea, through Istanbul, to the rest of the world will also be analyzed.

Russia, which signed that agreement together with Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations, has announced that there are no reasons to extend its application beyond July 17, the date on which it expires.

“The Russian side continues to conscientiously and responsibly approach its obligations as part of the agreement, making the necessary efforts in strict compliance with the rules of procedure so that all ships participating in it can successfully complete their mission and leave the Black Sea. before its validity expires,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Erdogan is in regular contact with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Turkey is, together with Hungary, the only NATO member country that has not sent military aid to Ukraine to support its defense against the Russian invasion.
