“You pass on something encouraging. The recognition for this is good for my soul.”

Bärbel is one of 240 volunteers who are involved in the Vorarlberg Children’s Village. In the Bregenz district, new volunteers are being sought, especially for parents with babies and small children.

Parents are the most important caregivers for their children, but they do not have to and cannot do everything on their own. Especially when support from the private environment is missing, everyday life quickly becomes a stress test. Two to three hours a week are required to make life easier for families. Almost 250 volunteers between 16 and 60+ are currently coming up with all sorts of ideas to give the little ones carefree experiences and the parents a weekly break.

In the Bregenz district, there are a few parents with babies who are waiting for encouraging support in everyday life. “We are urgently looking for people who enjoy giving babies and small children their time and thus relieving the parents,” says Jasmin Neumayer from the Vorarlberg Children’s Village. She is the coordinator in the “Family impulses” preventive area, which brings families and volunteers together and provides professional support.

Bright little trio sets the pace
For example, she is looking for a voluntary supporter for a family of five. Things are going well for the Bregenz family at the moment. Three-year-old Liam and the twins (3 months) set the pace. Family life with the bright trio is sometimes quite exhausting without help in the private sphere. We are looking for someone who enjoys baby walks, games or reading aloud. With a young mother, there is currently no relieving support in sight either. The younger child is ten months old, the little brother is already going to kindergarten. Additional challenges make everyday family life more difficult. For this family, too, one person who regularly wants to explore the world outside with the baby or both children could make a big difference.

Win win for volunteers and families
“Small impulses and encouragement to give back strength are sometimes exactly the help that is needed so that family life succeeds despite all the challenges,” says Jasmin Neumayer. The everyday life of the families as well as that of the volunteers is enriched. The volunteers give new perspectives through their commitment – and are rewarded themselves: with colorful experiences, unforgettable memories and the good feeling of doing something meaningful.
