After weeks of back and forth, a decision has been made: Prince Harry is at the coronation of his father King Charles III. now there.

Update from April 12, 2023, 4:15 p.m.: On May 6th King Charles III. crowned as the rightful heir to the throne of the United Kingdom. In the run-up to the ceremony, it was not clear for a long time whether his son Prince Harry (38) would also attend the event. A decision has now been made in this regard: Harry is coming. Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday afternoon (April 12) that the monarch’s youngest son will be present at the ceremony. However, according to the palace, Meghan Markle (41) will stay in California with her children Archie and Lillibet.

As Omid Scobie, a supporter of the Duchess of Sussex, theorizes on short messaging platform Twitter, it could be a very short trip for Harry as Archie celebrates his fourth birthday on May 6th. This could also be the reason why Meghan does not even start the trip to England.

First report from March 15, 2023: London – Right after he became king, left King Charles III (74) still in mourning for his mother Queen Elizabeth II. (96, † 2022) announced that he wants to slim down the monarchy. A slimmed-down version of the coronation was part of it for him and also hit the nerve of the times, as Great Britain is being rocked by an ongoing financial crisis. The other side of the coin now hits the rich and beautiful of society, who have to tremble for a place and an invitation to the biggest event of the year. Because: Only 2,000 instead of 8,000 guests should be there.

Some of the king’s “friends” are angry, afraid to embarrass themselves without an invitation

Coronation fever is in the air in the remaining days before the coronation on May 6th. Some of Charles’ friends are, according to Richard Eden (64), columnist at dailymail“, angry, especially those who have made quite a bit of their royal friendships over the years,” he reports. “They find the wait unbearable. For some it will end in humiliation,” he prophesies.

While 70 years ago for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, no fewer than 5,000 people piled up to the ceiling in Westminster Abbey, today this is simply no longer possible from a health perspective. Modern security scenarios also discount specially erected scaffolding that allowed people to sit more or less one on top of the other, reports one historian of the state functions held at Westminster Abbey.

King Charles III throws 900 years of tradition overboard

The invitations for the coronation are to be sent to the guests this week. From palace to palace then flutters loudly dailymail other crowned heads the royal mail into the castle. King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla make a historic break: for centuries, the coronation of a British monarch was not attended by other crowned royals, as the sacred ceremony was meant to be an intimate exchange between the monarch and his people before God .

Every opportunity will be exhausted to be part of the celebrations

In order to get hold of one of the rare 2,000 places, people are now diligently reaching into their bag of tricks. “I’m hearing some are aware of this fact and are trying to highlight their affiliations with charities, which are likely to receive a handful of invites.” After all, Queen Consort Camilla (75) is the patron of over a hundred such foundations, from Marie Curie to the National Literacy Trust. Nevertheless, this is of course no guarantee. The pressure mounts, especially since advance emails have been sent and you only receive an invitation when it is confirmed and sent back.

As Eden reports from palace circles, the e-mails are being sent out at regular intervals and the trembling in the Society is getting louder and louder. Since some eyes directed enviously to Montecito, where the renegade King’s son Prince Harry (38) and his wife Meghan Markle (41) allow themselves the luxury of not immediately responding to the email invitation to react. Disagreements aside, to be absent from this opportunity seems to be far too great a loss of face for many. Whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already confirmed or canceled has not yet been confirmed. Sources used: dailymail.co.uk
