Several thousand people gathered outside the gates of Buckingham Palace on Saturday afternoon to catch a glimpse of the newly crowned king and queen. A snapshot reveals the impressive panorama discovered by Charles III and Queen Camilla during their greeting from the balcony.

Wearing their crowns, King Charles III and Queen Camilla came out on the mythical balcony of Buckingham Palace after their coronation at the Abbey this Saturday afternoon, to greet the tens of thousands of people gathered in the rain in Westminster to celebrate their coronation.

During this highly anticipated appearance, the royal couple first attended the traditional flypast above the palace, surrounded by active members of the family, including Prince William and his wife Kate, their children, as well as Anne and Edward, brother and sister of the sovereign.

From the balcony, the royal family then greeted the crowd for a long time, which had moved in large numbers to see the newly crowned king and queen, despite the few drops of rain. A series of photos, immortalized by a photojournalist, also shows behind the scenes of this timeless moment.

One of them, taken from the balcony where they were, shows Charles III and Queen Camilla from behind saluting a compact crowd massed behind the gates of the palace, and around the Victoria Memorial – “the winged Victory” , a monument erected in honor of Queen Victoria.

“An honor to capture ‘behind the scenes’ a never-before-seen angle of today’s historic coronation, what a day!!!!!!” Twitter after posting his image.

Charles III became king of the United Kingdom and 14 Commonwealth countries, from Canada to Australia to Jamaica, in September on the death of his mother Elizabeth II, aged 96.
