The dystopian universe of “The Hunger Games” returns to theaters in 2023 with a prequel called “The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes“. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is a film with Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth as protagonists, in the roles of Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus Snow (the one who was played by Donald Sutherland in the original film series).

The novelty of this Friday, April 28, is that Lionsgate published the trailer of the film on social networks, where you can see something of the script and the setting.

The film takes place in a time long before the 2012 film, when Snow (Blyth) was barely 18 years old and his goal was to restore prestige to his family.

The new “Hunger Games” movie is based on the novel of the same name that Suzanne Collins published in 2020 and will be released globally in November 2023.

The film adaptation is directed by Francis Lawrence, who worked on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and on both editions of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”

The trailer for the prequel to “The Hunger Games”

Before the trailer was released, the press and a small group of fans had the chance to see it at a special event.

After the screening, producer Nina Jacobson (who produced the original four films) and Lawrence (who directed all but the first film), discussed the trailer and teased some unseen details.

“Lucy is a completely original character,” Jacobson said. “She’s very different from Katniss. She is an artist. And Katniss was the complete opposite.” added.

The saga of “The Hunger Games” became a cultural phenomenon since the release of the first novel in 2008.

The story, set in a dystopian society where young people are forced to participate in a televised battle to the death, has captured millions of fans around the world.

The data proves it: the “Hunger Games” trilogy sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and movies based on the books grossed more than 3 billion.

The “Hunger Games” franchise is estimated to have generated more than $5 billion in revenue, between books, movies and merchandising, making Collins a billionaire.

The movies also launched the careers of many young actors, including Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson.
