After 10 months of alert, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared this Thursday, May 11, the end of international emergency by the outbreak of monkey pox or seismic, declared in July last year.

This disease claimed the lives of 140 deaths, of the 87,000 people infected in 111 countries. The decision was announced at a press conference by the director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The WHO leader met with the emergency committee that quarterly analyzed the situation of the outbreak, whose cases, they said, “have been reduced by 90 percent in the last three months.”

It should be noted, as reported in The Truth Newssince the first case of monkeypox, on May 28, 2022, 6,559 people have been identified who meet the definition of a probable case in Mexico.

According to the figures presented by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE), the cases of monkeypox in Mexico are distributed as follows:

Mexico City, two thousand 029 infections; Jalisco, 402; State of Mexico, 361; Quintana Roo, 238; Yucatan, 169; Nuevo Leon, 125; Puebla, 68; Veracruz, 64; Tabasco, 57; Chiapas, 52; Lower California, 32; Tamaulipas, 31; Queretaro, 30; Hidalgo, 26; and Morelos, 25.

In addition, Campeche, 23; Chihuahua, 25; Guanajuato, 22; Sinaloa, 19; Aguascalientes, 18; Coahuila, 16; Guerrero, 15; Oaxaca, 14; San Luis Potosi, 12; Tlaxcala, 12; Nayarit, 10; Michoacán, eight; Baja California Sur, six; Colima, six; Sound, five; Zacatecas, five; and Durango, three.
