All the videos have one thing in common: they were shot in Ukraine.

Ihe Belgian Red Cross has removed the images from clips of Ed Sheeran, Roméo Elvis, Editors, Tame Impala, Years&Years, George Ezra, Rudimental and Twenty One Pilots, with the support of the latter, the NGO announced on Tuesday. The objective of this campaign, launched at the approach of the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, is to draw attention to the inhabitants who remained in the country and who, “every day, are also threatened with disappearance”.

Specifically, the clips made for “Malade” by Roméo Elvis, “2step” by Ed Sheeran, “Paradise” by George Ezra, “Frankenstein” by Editors, “Never Let You Go” by Rudimental, “Nico And The Niners” by Twenty One Pilots, “Shine” by Years&Years and “Let It Happen” by Tame Impala are marked “video not available” and replaced by videos without sets or actors in which a few lines of text describe the action.

These clips were not chosen at random: all were made in Ukraine. Before the war, the country was indeed an extremely popular filming location with artists of all nationalities and all musical genres. “Some places have been affected by violent clashes since then, and these hidden images are a reminder of how much the fate of the inhabitants has changed overnight,” explains the Red Cross. “Today, the filming of these clips could obviously no longer take place.”

The modified videos will be broadcast on the music channels as well as on the YouTube page of the Belgian Red Cross.
