Do you all play Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? No? Understandable, neither do I. Because I’m playing No Man’s Sky again. Given the choice between rescuing the princess or finding out how galactic economy crashing works in 2023… Excuuuuuse me, Princess, these new engine upgrades are expensive. But yeah, a good portion of you might be happily marauding through Hyrule, and why not. As you can read in the test for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the heavily developed vertical freedom is convincing and quickly awakens the urge to discover.

But maybe not everyone has been lucky enough to grab one of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Editions that have been selling out for months. As expected, these were sold out within the same day and, based on the quantity now available on Ebay, were not necessarily intended for your own shelf. Well, we also have one and of course it will be raffled. It’s way too big to put on the shelf here anyway, you should see how you deal with the size of the box. Well, at least it’s not one of the figure moving boxes in which many other Collector’s Editions drive the postman mad.

In contrast to many other Collector’s Editions that I recently held in my hands, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at least includes the game in the pretty and stylish box. That’s nice, especially considering what a certain other box cost and then the actual product in an unmarked envelope was unceremoniously fired into the shipping carton rather than being given a proper place. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster I love you but we need to talk…

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom not only does that, but of course also treats the game to the obligatory steel book. Although I am now convinced that anyone who still buys physical games in 2023 should generally get a Steelbook. They are certainly not more environmentally friendly, but those who do obviously like to collect and should always get the nice pack. And the Steelbook in the Collector’s Edition is beautiful and stylish, which looks much better on the shelf.

If you continue to work your way through the large box, you will come across an art book. Not one of those small, rather sad specimens, but a decent format that also reveals a few details of this once again beautiful Hyrule. Leafing through it is fun, although I would have liked more accompanying texts on the creative process. More info on how to approach a world and characters that have been established for over three decades and are adored by a sometimes iconic fanbase.

You can then recognize them by the new badges that can be found in this box. Four pins come in a small box, a form of fan medal that has had a decent revival in all subcultures over the last decade. With these you can identify yourself to those in the know, because the symbols will certainly not mean something to everyone right away. And then there’s a snazzy poster with the pretty, sunny artwork. That’s a nice bundle that comes with some little promo goodies as a surprise, and we thank Nintendo for donating the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition as a prize. And by the way, if you ever get stuck with the game: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough. Here you will be helped.
