The president of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Jesús Manuel Ortiz, announced this Wednesday the creation of two working committees whose purpose is the reorganization of the PPD for the 2024 elections.
“As everyone knows, one of my priorities will be the reorganization of the Party,” Ortiz said in written statements.
“Today we are announcing the creation of the Metropolitan Task Force and the Special Group of 15. All of them will be focused on specific points of the reorganization of our party,” he added.
The Metropolitan Task Force will focus on designing a reorganization process for San Juan, Bayamón and Guaynabo. They will work together with the local leadership to develop a work plan adjusted to the current reality of these municipalities.
Closer to the gubernatorial candidacy?
“The work plan that is applied in San Juan is not necessarily the same in the rest of the municipalities,” Ortiz said. “The Metropolitan Task Force will be made up of various local leaders and elected officials.”
Likewise, Ortiz announced the creation of the Group of 15, which will assist the Mayors and Municipal Presidents in the reorganization and political work in 15 municipalities that require special measures.
“This group of 15 will be in charge of carrying out an x-ray that will allow us to identify successes and failures in the electoral process of the municipalities,” added Ortiz.
In addition, Victor Pérez Pérez will be in charge of the reorganization of the 14 sectoral organizations attached to the PPD.
“We will have a lot of work in the coming months. I have confidence in the capabilities of our team and in their commitment to me and to the Party to achieve our goals,” said Ortiz González.
Finally, Ortiz presented several resolutions to the Governing Board to urgently attend to the reorganization of the Party, prepare the electoral team, direct a financial plan and adopt a protocol for handling cases of gender violence. All the resolutions presented by the President were endorsed and unanimously approved by its members.
