Off the Philippines, a Japanese boat, long sought after by the Australians, has finally been found. It had been torpedoed by an American submarine which was unaware that it had prisoners of war on board.

At 4000 meters depth, we can see an elongated spot. It’s a wreck in a pit off the Philippines. A Japanese ship cut in two from World War II. Those present are filled with emotion at this discovery. Five days of research

This sinking is one of the greatest maritime tragedies in Australian history. It was carrying over a thousand people and was torpedoed by an American submarine which did not know it was carrying Australian POWs. There were no survivors of this attack. This Japanese boat was found by an underwater drone after five days of searching. For those who have found it, it is a way to finally close this mystery. But also and above all to pay tribute to the victims and their families who remained unanswered for the time being.
