On April 17, mother Maria was at work when a colleague approached her with a phone and said she had to let go of everything.

On the phone was the principal at Yasmine’s school who said that something serious had happened and that the daughter was on her way to Sunderby hospital.

– I knew it was over for her, I had a feeling. She felt so bad, says Maria.

The family had for a long time tried to get help from the school as the daughter was high after school and they knew she was using dry shampoo.

– We have called many, many times but no one answers.

The school’s own alarms

The municipality of Luleå itself went out in February and warned about the problem with hoarding and wrote out where worried parents should turn. But Yasmine’s family describes how they tried to contact social services and the school.

– We have knocked on all the doors but received no help, says Maria.

You haven’t managed this yourself?

– No, and we said so. We called for help but they didn’t help us.

Major investigation started

Social services and the Children and Education Administration must now cooperate and investigate what happened in the case.

– The administration is currently checking carefully what has happened. There is criticism of social services and the school, but in February we were out with a lot of information with a bang, says chairman of the social committee Bodil Wennerbrandt Sevastik (S).

In the information, the municipality urged parents to get in touch if their children were “scammed”. Sevastik, on the other hand, believes that she just can’t answer the criticism from the family.

– I can’t deal with it. It is tragic if they feel that they have not received any help.

The operations manager at the social administration does not want to comment on the specific matter but says that they regret the incident, which you can hear more about in the clip above.
