The Hydrometeorology service of the Municipality of La Plata issued a warning for wind sources in the last hours of Tuesday and raised to “yellow” he risk attention level (NAR) since strong gusts can be registered.
“For the remainder of today it will continue to be unstable with some isolated drizzle in La Plata. Tomorrow (for Wednesday) will be windy from the south and southwest with gusts of 50 to 65 km/hfor this reason we raise to yellow the NAR FOR WINDS. The chance of some showers is also not ruled out,” says the report from the authorities
Thus, they activated prevention tasks on public roads and monitoring of weather conditions. Faced with this forecast, the Municipal Emergency Operations Committee (COEM) initiated preventive actions and established coordinated work between the different local areas to avoid inconveniences related to weather conditions.
In this way, various preventive actions were arranged on public roads, with the survey of objects external to homes that could be blown up and tree branches with a risk of falling.
RECOMMENDATIONS
“Citizens are recommended to avoid driving on public roads and stay in a safe place during the aforementioned period; in the case of having to drive in a vehicle, do it slowly and with low beams on,” is one of the recommendations. It was also suggested to stay away from trees and power poles, remove flowerpots or other objects that could be blown from balconies and windows, and not remove waste.

In emergency situations, residents can call 911 and 103 for Civil Protection. While, in cases of claims or requests, 147 remains in operation and in the event of medical emergencies on public roads, they must call 107 of SAME La Plata.
Finally, it was reiterated that the residents have at their disposal the ‘Climate MLP’ app, with which they can be informed in real time about the forecast and the particularities of the weather that occur in each of the neighborhoods and, in this way, be aware of the weather alerts issued by the Commune in each situation.
