Ryad, 15, risks having his leg amputated. His fracture became infected under the cast that doctors had put on him on December 31 without operating on him. At the microphone of BFMTV, his mother asks for an explanation.

A terrible medical error? On December 31, a young boy, Ryad, and his mother, Nadia, presented themselves at the polyclinic in Bezannes, near Reims. The young 15-year-old suffers from a double fracture in his left leg … but comes out with a simple temporary cast and painkillers.

As protocol dictates, doctors are asking the boy’s mother to fast in preparation for surgery the next day.

“Except that the next morning, no call, nothing”, says Nadia at the microphone of BFMTV. “I call them back and they tell me that there is no one with that name and that a priori, there is no block planned.”

“A skin that macerated for three days”

With no response from the establishment and faced with Ryad’s deteriorating condition, Nadia decides to take him to another hospital, to the Reims University Hospital. And the doctors note the seriousness of the situation.

“They open the plaster, and see a skin that has macerated for three days: blisters, pus, blood,” says the boy’s mother.

Ryad’s fracture became infected under the cast: he risks amputation. For his mother it is shock and incomprehension. She is now waiting for answers from the polyclinic.

“What didn’t you take the time to do? Or bother to do?” she asks. “Okay, there are no doctors, okay it’s New Year’s Day, but at least tell me.”

Ryad is currently in stable condition. Contacted, the management of the polyclinic of Bezannes did not wish to answer our questions.
