The renovation project Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has finally got a new launch date. The collection pack of the strategy series’ first two games is now coming to Switch on April 21.

Advance Wars 1+2 was originally unveiled during E3 2021. Launch was expected early the following year, but when Russia invaded Ukraine, Nintendo chose to put the package on hold.

– Due to recent events in the world, we have made the decision to postpone Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, the company wrote Twitter that time.

While Nintendo is also now not specifically mentioning the Ukraine war, the theory among fans has been that the company landed on a delay due to the action in the game. The story in Advance Wars begins precisely with the nation Orange Star invading the neighboring country Blue Moon.

Advance Wars first came to our part of the world on the Gameboy Advance in 2002. The sequel Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising came out in 2003, continuing the story started in the first game.

Basically, the Wars series is kind of a sister series to Fire Emblem, with many similarities. But while Fire Emblem focuses more on telling a fantasy story and has strong role-playing elements, the Wars games focus on a more light-hearted and accessible style.
