the german filmNo news at the frontIt became the foreign-language film with the most BAFTA film award nominations in British Academy history on Thursday, topping the list with 14 nominations.

The film, an adaptation of the 1929 novel about World War I, is up for 14 awards -which will be unveiled at a ceremony on February 19-, including best director, best supporting actor, best adapted screenplay, best foreign language film and best film.

The German film is followed in number of nominations at the 2023 BAFTAs by the black comedy “The Banshees Of Inisherin” and the sci-fi comedy All at once everywhere, with ten nominations each, followed by “Elvis”, who competes in 9 categories, and “Tár”, with 5.

As revealed today by the organization, among the nominees for best film, in addition to the aforementioned German film, the Irish film “The Banshees Of Ininsherin” (“Souls in pain of Inisherin”), by Graham Broadbent, “Elvis”, by Gail Berman, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” (“Everything at once everywhere”), by Daniel Kwan and “Tár”, by Todd Field.

In the category of best director, they will compete this year Edward Berger (“All Quiet On the Western Front” / “All Quiet On The Front”), Martin McDonagh (“The Banshees Of Inisherin” / “Almas en banshee de Inisherin”), Park Chan-Wook (“Decision To Leave”), Daniel Kwan (“Evertyhing Everywhere All At Once”/ “Todo a la vez en todos partes”), Todd Field (“Tár”) and Gina Prince-Bythewood (“The Woman King”/”The Woman King”)

The interpreters who will aspire, for their part, to the award for best actress are the Australian Cate Blanchett (“Tár”), Viola Davis (“The Woman King”/ “La mujer rey”), Danielle Deadwyler (Till«/ »Till – The crime that changed everything«), the Spanish-Cuban Ana De Armas (»Blonde«), the British Emma Thompson (»Good Luck to You, Leo Grande«/ »Buena suerte, Leo Grande«) and Michelle Yeoh (»Everything Everywhere All At Once«/ »Everything at once everywhere»).

The names of the winners will be known at a ceremony that will take place on February 19 at the Royal Festival Hall, in the center of Southbank (London), which will be broadcast on television in the United Kingdom.
