Nicols lvarez discovered the previously unknown terms Mac14,8, Mac14,13 and Mac14,14. He posted his discovery on Twitter and speculated which Macs it could be.
The new designations appear in a list alongside Mac14,3 and Mac14,12, the designations for the latest M2 and M2 Pro Mac mini models. There are some indications that they could be desktop Macs, listed as Mac14,8, Mac14,13 and Mac14,14: According to lvarez, these Macs are listed in Apple’s configuration file that refer to the override of the disconnection monitoring and not related to the mobile Find My feature.
Exactly what these new Mac models are is unclear, as Apple has moved from its previously more specific model names such as “MacBookAir10.1” to generic “Mac” designations. It’s not immediately clear whether it’s a MacBook, a Mac mini or a Mac Studio.
Hoping for a new iMac
However, since the rumors about updates are currently getting hot, it is reasonable to assume that these are actually new desktop Macs. A new Mac Pro has been expected for a long time, although there has been little indication of it so far. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg even reported that Apple will bring a new Mac Pro, but it will definitely not be presented at WWDC in June 2023. The most likely would be an update for the iMac.
Waiting for the Apple M3 chip
The Mac mini was just updated in January and the Mac Studio is rumored to not get an update until the M3 family of chips is ready – and that won’t be until early 2024.
