NEW YORK — Midtown Manhattan, New York City, is preparing for President Biden’s visit, including added security measures.
The president is scheduled to arrive in New York City on Thursday afternoon.
In addition to Biden, Republican presidential candidate and current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is also expected to arrive in midtown Manhattan on Thursday afternoon.
DeSantis’ visit to New York City coincides with his attempt to boost his popularity on the campaign trail, but the Florida governor continues to trail behind former President Donald Trump, who is facing numerous legal cases.
DeSantis made headlines Wednesday, saying that if he is elected president, he will shut down four major federal agencies: education, business, energy and the IRS.
As for Biden, his journey focused on what he has coined as “bidenomics“. On Thursday he will participate in a live interview with MSNBC. Afterwards, he has a few campaign receptions scheduled around the city. This comes after a recent NBC News poll found that 38% of Americans polled approve of the handling of the economy by the president.
In a speech in Chicago on Wednesday, the president discussed his economic agenda.
“The economy grows from the middle out and from the bottom up, rather than just from the top down,” he said. “When that happens, everyone does well.”
