As “bild.de” reports, the 79-year-old was driving on Kieler Straße in the direction of Hasloh when the accident happened. He had just passed the town sign when he was blinded by the sun, he told “bild.de”. “I was distracted for a second”. A crucial second. Because at 50 kilometers per hour he crashed his new Cupra Formentor into a car parked on the side of the road without braking.
The impact must have been so strong that Tiedemann pushed the parked car over the sidewalk into a hedge. The police were there immediately, as was an ambulance. Fortunately, the suspicion of a spinal injury could not be confirmed. “I was restrained and taken to the emergency room at Heidelberg Hospital,” says Tiedemann in an interview. “It’s great how everyone took care of me!” According to the MRT report, the presenter had a bruised rib on the right side, so he only had to stay in the clinic for one night.
