Health and well-being are among the main trends at CES 2023. A non-exhaustive overview of innovations in these areas.

The connected health sector has taken a prominent place since the Covid-19 pandemic. Connected watch, smart stetoscope or even electric toothbrushes: many products allow consumers to be actors in monitoring their well-being. This excitement is also reflected at CES 2023, an event that gives pride of place to this sector and during which many exhibitors presented innovative solutions in this area.

The French company Withings intends to revolutionize the toilets with U-Scan, a device which proposes to analyze and provide daily the composition of the urine of its user directly at home. The principle is simple: placed in the toilet bowl, the device consists of a reader, which collects urine, and a cartridge system which analyzes it. Each one allows to carry out a hundred tests

The first cartridge, dedicated to food analysis, will determine the consequences of nutritional and water intake on metabolism. Depending on the results obtained, the Withings application will give advice, such as recipes or activities, in order to achieve the objectives set by the user.

The second cartridge is intended for the analysis of menstrual cycles and will allow users to know where they are within their cycle based on hormonal detection. All while providing advice for better hydration and nutrition.

AeviceMD, a portable stethoscope powered by artificial intelligence, can detect abnormal wheezing in chronic conditions such as asthma. A sensor continuously analyzes and records the measurements (respiratory rate, heart rate, etc.) via an application.

The latter gives an overview of the data collected and offers the possibility of receiving alerts when early signs of health deterioration are detected. Ultimately, the AeviceMD should be used by doctors to assess the cardiopulmonary health of their patients, anytime and anywhere, thanks to the sharing of data to make rapid clinical decisions.

In addition to its atypical design, the Y-Brush electric toothbrush, developed by the eponymous Lyon startup, has another particularity: its manufacturer promises that it can brush teeth effectively in just… 10 seconds.

The object consists of a handle capable of generating sonic vibrations and a very flexible brush head, lined with nylon filaments, which adapts to any jaw shape. A feature that allows it to brush the entire dentition at the same time.

CarePredict is a solution that allows you to analyze in real time the degree of activity of the elderly in order to monitor the evolution of their behavior and prevent the deterioration of their state of health.

It consists of Tempo, a connected bracelet capable of detecting their daily activities and collecting their vital constants such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, or even body temperature. Data that can then be received and shared with caregivers.

The bracelet is also able to detect the actions of daily life such as eating, drinking, taking a bath, or even washing and locating in which rooms these activities take place. A feature that allows you to locate the owner of the bracelet.

• Medical diagnosis by Caducy selfie

The start-up I-Virtual, based in Metz, has developed Caducy, a technology called “photoplethysmography” which allows, using a simple 30-second selfie video, to measure vital parameters remotely.

The operation is very simple: thanks to this short sequence, Caducy can calculate six vital parameters including heart rate, respiratory rate or blood pressure. The objective of this tool is to improve prevention and diagnosis and ensure better follow-up at home for patients with chronic diseases.
