Suspended for “indecent conduct”, the Beninese journalist, Felix Sohounde Pépéripé, returned to the dark episode he experienced.

Responsible for ensuring the media coverage of the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2022, the general manager of the Beninese daily newspaper, The colleague of the morning, Félix Pépéripé, was surprised by a dismissal from the Confederation African Football, for a period of 5 years.

Indeed, following a complaint for abuse and sexual assault, Felix Pépéripé received a sanction that will keep him away from the African football entourage for the next five years. The victim, of a Moroccan nationality, would be an official of the CAF.

Faced with this “accusation”, the Beninese journalist and correspondent for the Rfi media, denied any involvement in this affair. Claiming never to have known the alleged victim, Felix Sohounde Pépéripé released “his truths”.

Thus, in a telephone interview with the Algerian daily “Al Khabar”, Felix Sohounde Pépéripé said, “I have no connection with what is currently being said on the networks. I’m a victim of a position I took that didn’t sit well with some people. he explains to the Algerian newspaper, Al Khabar.

“The truth is that Morocco is angry with me because I supported Algeria,” he adds.

Suspended for sexual abuse, yet another Moroccan plot?

“The CAF Disciplinary Board has decided to suspend Mr. Felix Sohounde Peperipe immediately from any football activity related to CAF, for a period of 5 years. We read in the report of the Disciplinary Committee of the African Football Authority.

Following this discrepancy that the Beninese journalist considers “incomprehensible” it was time for explanations.
Indeed, during the same telephone interview with the Algerian newspaper Al-Khabar, Félix Sohounde Pépéripé indicated, “There is a scale of sanction which varies from a fine to suspension, passing through reprimand and warning. This was not applied in my case. I am surprised to get the maximum when I was not even warned. » he explains to the Algerian newspaper.

Behind this accusation, the Beninese journalist believes that there is indeed a “scheme on the part of Morocco”. Thus, he continues, “On January 14, the Algerians organized a party to celebrate my birthday. I was very delighted and said that I would support Algeria’s candidacy for the organization of CAN 2025. This was not to the liking of Moroccans. he said.

In line with this statement, Felix Sohounde Pépéripé added, “After my birthday party, I was surprised by the reaction of some Moroccan officials who were present in the CAF delegation. They reproached me for being the new friend of their enemies. Surprised, I asked them who are their enemies? In the process, the CAF sanction fell. reads an article in Al Khabar newspaper.

After the video celebrating his birthday that the Beninese journalist, Felix Sohounde Pépéripé, shared and which went around the web, the “trouble” took shape for the latter. Thus, defending his innocence, the Rfi correspondent indicated that he “was on a mission to cover CHAN and that he has nothing to do with this accusation. he says.

Back in his country, the Beninese journalist suspects the decision of the CAF to dismiss him for 5 years for abuse and sexual assault and affirms that he was the victim of a “Moroccan plot”, he told Al-Khabar.
