The police headquarters banned the union rally scheduled for Saturday evening on the occasion of the final match of the Coupe de France.

The union rally planned by the CGT on Saturday evening near the Stade de France on the occasion of the final of the Coupe de France was banned by the prefecture, AFP learned from a police source. Emmanuel Macron will attend this match.

The match between Nantes and Toulouse is considered high risk by the authorities and an important security device is mobilized for the event.

In question, non-respect of deadlines, distribution of whistles…

This ban is justified by the prefecture for several reasons: non-compliance with the deadlines for declaring a rally (three clear days), possible disruption of a sporting event with the announcement on social networks of the distribution of whistles (whistle being prohibited in sports arenas so as not to disturb the refereeing) and wish to avoid any politicization of a sporting event.

“We are going to make a summary freedom”, reacted Kamel Brahmi, general secretary of the CGT of Seine-Saint-Denis, considering that “the declaration was made in due time”. “Anyway, we won’t be able to stifle social protest with this type of decision.”
