cupra, the sub-brand of the Spanish VW offshoot Seat, has revealed the name of its upcoming small electric car. His name: Raval. The study of the car bore the name UrbanRebel.
The final name refers to a neighborhood in the heart of Barcelona. “Raval is one of the most surprising parts of Barcelona. And today we are proud that our future urban electric car will bear his name and represent his spirit.
They want to express the essence of Raval and continue to inspire the world from Barcelona, explains the Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths.
Almost as big as VW Polo
The technical basis represents the scaled down Electric platform “MEB-Small” of the Wolfsburg car manufacturer. With a length of 4,03 Meter the dimensions of the Cupra Raval are pretty much the same as those of the Polo.
From 2025, the e-cars are to be produced on the basis of the MEB small platform.
Increase in sales and profits
In addition to the name, Seat SA also announced its best result to date in its first quarter of 2023. Between January and March, the company posted a record operating profit of 144 million euros. Compared to the previous year, this is an increase of 139 million euros. Sales are up 48 percent 3.6 billion euros gone up.
Total were over 300,000 vehicles sold since the launch of the Cupra brand. Last year, Cupra was able to generate sales of 4.4 billion euros recorded – that is 40 percent of the total turnover.
