The countdown is on, in 40 days, Destiny 2 will welcome its new Lightfall expansion (Eclipse in French). Introducing in August, the new campaign will give Guardians the opportunity to battle the Witness and his disciple Calus while learning to master a new doctrine, the Dark Thread. As its release approaches, Bungie shares a new trailer in which we can observe in detail the new destination of the game, Néomuna.

Destiny 2 still shines with its artistic direction

After traveling the frozen plains of Europe and then the swamps of the Throne World of Savathûn, the guardians of Destiny 2 will make their way to Neptune and its capital Neomuna in Eclipse. Assaulted by Calus’ Shadow Legion, it will be necessary to come to the aid of the local population and the Cloudwalkers in an attempt to put an end to the plans of the Witness and thus prevent the Darkness from causing a second fall.

Once again, the MMOFPS developers shine with their artistic direction by creating a city made of skyscrapers in a neo-pop style with cyberpunk accents. The new trailer confirms that we can, as in other destinations, move there by sparrow (the game’s means of transport), and the dark thread which introduces a grappling hook should also add an unprecedented verticality to movement. We see very clearly the guardians slipping between the buildings of Néomuna using this new ability.

New details revealed about the Eclipse expansion

These new images also show that the Vex network will return to Eclipse and that they will therefore have an important role to play on Neptune. A detail that could be important is an image showing an area dedicated to Osiris, one of the main characters of the game, yet a stranger to the city. This could indicate that Neomuna would not be just a destination to explore, but a potential new central hub of the game.

Answer on February 28 with the release of Destiny 2: Eclipse on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. Note also that the old generation consoles will benefit from a specific treatment after the release in order to optimize the game on these platforms. As a reminder, Destiny 2 is a free-to-play game which, however, requires the purchase of expansions and season passes to enjoy the full content.
