For a week, only English was on the program for 85 students.

Dornbirn. After the Corona break, the language week “English in Action” could finally be offered again this year for the students in the fifth grade of the BG Dornbirn. The regular classes were suspended for five days, and intensive language training with native speakers from Great Britain was on the agenda. A particular focus was on consolidating oral language skills. With practical exercises, discussions and small projects, the high school students could give free rein to their creativity as long as they followed the “English only” rule. In between, Matura task formats were practiced again and again.

Intensive language training

At the end of the project week, a large final performance took place, in which the students presented their own sketches, plays and quizzes in English. At the end, all students received a certificate from the British teaching team, which certifies their participation in the language week. “It was a very successful week in which, thanks to the native speakers, not only the grammatical but also the cultural aspect of the language was taught,” sums up Sebastian Schwald, project manager at BG Dornbirn. The campaign, from which 85 students benefited this year, was generously supported by the Lions Club.
