As regards the professions eligible for the European Blue Card, these depend on the sectors of activity under pressure in the country. These professions are those that require highly qualified skills, namely:

  • Scientific engineers;
  • Mathematicians;
  • Specialists in information and communication technologies.

How to apply for the EU Blue Card in Germany?

To apply for the European Blue Card, the skilled worker must go through several stages. And this, starting with finding a job in Germany, with a minimum validity of one year, but which also respects the salary threshold, mentioned above. The best way to find a job in this country is to consult the European job mobility portal, namely EURES.

Once the work contract has been won, the candidate must now apply for his work visa to Germany. A work permit from the German federal agency is also required in the case of certain professions.

The next step, especially after the candidate’s arrival on German territory, concerns home registration. Indeed, the skilled worker must register his personal address, at the level of the residents’ registration office, within a maximum period of 14 days. Applicants for the EU Blue Card must also register for health insurance. And this, with a German health insurance fund.

At this point, the candidate is ready to apply for their EU Blue Card at the local immigration office. To do this, you must first make an appointment and submit your application file on D-Day. Applicants for this document will not be authorized to work in Germany. And this, as long as his credit card has not been issued.

What documents are needed to apply for the EU Blue Card in Germany?

To obtain the European Blue Card, applicants are required to submit a complete file including:

  • A valid passport:
  • A recent biometric photo that corresponds to the following dimensions: 35 mm x 45 mm;
  • A work contract ;
  • A residence permit application form;
