The British actor disappeared on January 13, while hiking in Mount Baldy, north of Los Angeles, where violent storms broke out.
While the Californian authorities have just completed their eleventh day of research to try to find the actor Julian Sands, reported missing following a hike in the mountains of Los Angeles, his family thanked the teams mobilized on the spot for their “heroic” work.
“We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support,” the actor’s family said in a statement, relayed by the BBC.
And to add: “Our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated members of San Bernardino County who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian.
A second hiker not found
Julian Sands was reported missing by his wife, Eugenia Citkowitz, on January 13. The 65-year-old actor had gone hiking on Mount Baldy, north of Los Angeles and gave no further news. His car, empty, was found near where he had started his excursion.
This mountain is known to be dangerous, “even for experienced hikers,” according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, California was recently hit by severe, deadly storms. Gusts of wind and floods have claimed more than fifteen lives there for several weeks.
Besides Julian Sands, another hiker, Jin Chung, 75, is also missing.
Revealed in 1985 by the film Room with a view with Helena Bonham Carter, Julian Sands also appeared in Leaving Las Vegas, Warlock: The Armageddonor in 2022 in Ghosts of Monday.
