The Berck-sur-Mer kite festival has just started. 24 delegations from all over the world participate.
Despite capricious weather in the morning, hundreds of kites invaded the sky of Berck-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais), Sunday April 16. In 36 editions, the festival has lost none of its magic. “It’s both magical and fabulous”, says a visitor. Every time Frédéric, a kite flier, lets his 16-meter-long whale fly, it’s always the same emotion. “It’s a childhood dream”he notes.
800,000 visitors in 2022
New for the 2023 edition, no less than 24 representatives from all continents are present. Among them, the Colombian team. “It’s really nice here. There is space, it’s ideal for kite flying”, explains Jesse, team of Colombia. With 800,000 visitors in 2022, the organizers are counting on the good weather forecast next week on the coast to attract even more people.
