The strained situation in healthcare in Stockholm over the Christmas holiday has, according to the region, improved significantly over the past week. Fewer people have tested positive for and are being treated with covid-19. Influenza and RSV have also decreased, but are decreasing from higher levels. The region’s chief physician is positive that fewer people need hospital care for viral infections, but still urges caution.
– The spread of infection still continues, so I want to emphasize that it is important to follow the recommendations we give and take the vaccinations offered regarding covid-19 and the flu, says Johan Bratt, chief physician in Region Stockholm in a press release.
In several hospitals, it has now been possible to take up the planned care after postponing it in favor of emergency care during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
