Chrome for desktop has started experimenting with Material You Dynamic Colors. The program’s Canary test version, the first to receive development resources, now displays fonts and buttons in the colors of the chosen theme.

It was the informant Leopeva64 who shared the news, this time on Twitter. As the prints released by him show, the function applies a slight change to the color palette of the browser interface fonts.

The change is small, but it shows that Google wants to bring Material You’s Dynamic Colors to the desktop, and more changes may be on the way. The difference from the PC, however, is that the interface colors are based on the theme defined for the browser, not on the computer’s wallpaper, as it happens on Android.

How to enable Chrome Dynamic Colors?

The Chrome Desktop Dynamic Colors feature is currently under development and can only be enabled on Chrome Canary 114. The feature needs to be enabled manually in the menu chrome://flagsin the option chrome://flags/#chrome-refresh-2023.

No release date

For now, there is no forecast for the release of the novelty in stable Chrome, the version that most users have installed on their computer. Today, the public uses Chrome 112 and, considering that the browser is updated monthly, the novelty can be released in at least two months.
