At a time when most studios make sure to make their fighting game last as long as possible by chaining season passes, Cygames has opted for the old-fashioned method: after an honorable career punctuated in particular by more than ‘half a million sales and a starting place at the Evo, Granblue Fantasy: Versus will be entitled to a final update on January 24 (mainly adjustments for certain characters) before handing over to Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Announced for this year on PS5, PS4 and PC, this new version does not seem to offer anything that could not have been the subject of an update in the game of 2020. The alleged graphic improvement, based it seems on a change of shaders and post-processing effects, is particularly similar to a nothingburger as we have rarely seen.
Which does not mean that there is nothing interesting in the program of this Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising. Game mechanics, for starters, will undergo a number of yet undisclosed changes. The 24 playable characters of GBVS, in other words those of the base and those added in DLC, will all be available by default, not to mention the new faces which will not fail to be announced. On the side of the single-player content, we will be entitled to an abbreviated version of the story mode of GBVS before moving on to a new scenario.
New also with regard to online lounges, which will be based on a social space offering cute little avatars to take part in mini-games between clashes. Among them, the focus is on a festive game called Grand Bruise Legends. Finally, and even if there again it did not seem necessary to produce a new version to be entitled to it, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising will have the merit of being launched with the crossplay (PS5, PS4, PC) and network code rollback (optimal against latency, therefore). As to whether the owners of GBVS will be entitled to a special offer at the time of purchase Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising ?
