The actress stars in this series adapted from Charles Dickens’ novel by the creator of Peaky Blinders.

This summer, Olivia Colman will be ubiquitous on Disney+. The Oscar-winning actress is featured in two series broadcast on the platform. On June 21, she will appear in Secret Invasion, a creation straight out of Marvel Studios. And only a week later, we’ll find her in Great Expectationsthe mini-series adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens, by none other than Steven Knight, the father of Peaky Blinders, Taboo et See.

In this new creation, she plays the eccentric Miss Havisham, a fallen and mysterious aristocrat guiding an orphan, Pip, towards his passage to adulthood. A period she describes as “the last moments of innocence before the grand corruption”. Trailer :

The young man (played by Fionn Whiteheadseen in particular in Dunkirk), immersed in the heart of 19th century London, will make many other formative encounters as to the “cruelty of this pernicious city”. Faced with the great hopes placed in him, he will have to determine what is the real price to pay to be part of this new world.

Steven Knight, in addition to writing the screenplay for the six episodes, is also the executive producer alongside Ridley Scott and Tom Hardy. Let’s wait and see what he has in store for this classic of literature revisited countless times in cinema and on television.
