Furthermore, Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that he realized that the most recent tapes would be a failure because people are tired of seeing it on paper and the scripts weren’t that well written.
“The franchise is not over. I have finished. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different issue when it comes to The Terminator. Someone has to have a great idea. The Terminator was largely responsible for my success, so I would always look back on it very fondly. The first three movies were great. In number four (Salvation) I was not because I was governor. Then on five (Genisys) and six (Dark Fate) they failed to close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that beforehand because they just weren’t written well.”

And it is that as we mentioned before, in 1984, Arnold Schwarzenegger played the protagonist of Terminator starting the franchise. She reprized the role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day from 1991 –what many consider to be the best installment–, and it was not until 2003 that he revived everything, since returned to give life to the T-800 in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
However, Arnold Schwarzenegger was left out of Terminator Salvation from 2009, although they included it via CGI. And though she came back for Terminator Genisys (2015) y Dark Fate (2019), they were not successful at the box office, much less with critics. That is why the franchise has been on ice ever since with no clear plans for the future.
