Tomorrow the 127th German Doctors’ Day will take place in the presence of Federal Health Minister Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach and NRW Minister of Health Karl-Josef Laumann opened.

Essen, 05/15/2023 – The 127th German Doctors’ Day in Essen – the “Parliament of the Medical Profession” – begins tomorrow, Tuesday. For four days, 250 medical representatives from all over Germany meet there to set health policy impulses and discuss important professional policy issues.

More than 120 journalists have been accredited for the major health policy event and will report on the professional policy and medical-ethical debates at the Doctors’ Day. The opening event, plenary sessions and press conferences can also via live stream be tracked.

The 127th German Doctors’ Day will be opened in the Philharmonie Essen, in the presence of Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach and Karl-Josef Laumann, Minister for Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The 127th German Doctors’ Day falls in challenging times: This year, the members of parliament are dedicating themselves to the announced Health Care Acts I and II, the realignment of hospital planning and reimbursement as well as many other health policy issues.

Under the title “Freedom and responsibility in the medical profession” the members of the 127th German Medical Association will deal with the understanding of the medical profession as a profession.

In another key topic, the Doctors’ Parliament – together with external speakers such as the North Rhine-Westphalian Education Minister Dorothee Feller – on the Promoting health literacy among children and young people and the introduction of a school subject “health”.

In addition, elections will be held at the 127th German Doctors’ Congress in 2023. A president, two vice-presidents and two other doctors are elected.
