Heartbreaking: Hispanic dies hit by a truck, leaves two children orphans

“My grandchildren were left without their mother,” said sobbing María García, mother of the young woman who was killed in an accident on Interstate 55 in Illinois.

According to authorities, the tragedy occurred Friday around 3:15 a.m. when a truck traveling on I-55, near Route 52, struck a driver and a passenger who had gotten out of their vehicle on the highway. . Apparently, the car had run out of gas.

The Will County Medical Examiner identified the fatality as Perla Andrade, 28, of Little Village.

“I can’t believe he’s not here anymore,” Garcia said.

Andrade was a single mother of a 10-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, who are orphaned because they had previously lost their father.

“She was very cheerful, very happy, happy, she had many friends, she was always smiling,” said García, the young woman’s mother.

Garcia asks the driver to turn himself in. “Show your face, why did you leave her lying on me, why did she leave, I would have helped her,” he said.

According to police, Andrade’s companion was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
