The Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) in Chihuahua started this month with the training course for the multidisciplinary team that will implement the pilot test for the timely detection of cervical cancer in the manufacturing sector, in companies associated with Index Chihuahua in this capital city.

The previous one was in the presence of representatives of the local maquiladora industry, municipal and state authorities; authorities of the Institution at national and entity level, and the representation of the employer sector before the Consultative Council of the IMSS in the state.

The implementation of the test for the detection of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) forms part of the actions of the national strategy ELSSA (Safe and Healthy Labor Environments); which is currently being carried out in Ciudad Juárez, for the benefit of workers in the makeup sector.

Through this project, the IMSS strengthens one of the main actions on the way to timely treatment of cancer in the uterine core in the female population of 35 years of age in advance.

In representation of the president of Index Chihuahua, Román Rivas Hong, the doctor David Guevara Peters, director of the health committee of the association.

I highlighted the commitment on the part of the IMSS to facilitate the resources so that the workers of the manufacturing industry have access to the tests of detection of cervical uterine cancer.

“It is an honor to be here and represent the industry of Chihuahua, it should be noted that we are the only state with quick and timely tests, on the part of the manufacturing industry, the health sector has all our support to facilitate these quick tests in our companies” , emphasized Doctor Guevara.

So it is clear that this training is part of the commitment and collaboration that exists between the manufacturing sector and the IMSS.

The holder of the Institute in the state, doctor Enrique Ureña Bogarín, stated that “the novelty of this strategy is that the woman takes care of the medical services of her own work area, where the company is in charge of the monitoring, registration and the packaging of the samples that are sent to a high-tech laboratory for processing”.

I added that the results of the HPV test will be sent by email or to the woman’s cell phone; and she can also consult them in the IMSS Digital application.

It is highlighted that the women with a positive result for the Human Papilloma Virus will have a personalized follow-up that includes the diagnosis and timely treatment by colposcopy and oncology services of the Institution.

I added that the IMSS will train the medical staff, will provide the inputs, the computer systems and together with the companies will agree on the coverage targets.

“We are before a project in which the efforts of the Mexican Institute of Social Security are combined with employers, in a new relationship that aims to benefit workers”, he reiterated.

The training will conclude this Friday, May 5, and is headed by doctor Olga Georgina Martínez Montañez, the homologous normative coordinator of the Dirección de Prestaciones Económicas y Sociales.
