TEHRAN — The Iranian regime ruled out signing a new nuclear agreement on Monday and pointed out that this pact is “unnecessary”, while accusing “those who propose new ideas” of “failing to fulfill their obligations” in the past.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kanani, indicated in a press conference that the idea of reaching a new agreement has been “presented by those who hesitate to fulfill their own obligations.”
“They did not comply with them within the framework of what was agreed,” he said in a clear reference to the United States, which announced in 2018 its unilateral withdrawal from the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (JCPOA), which had been signed by the main world powers with Tehran. .
The United States withdrew due to the Iranian regime’s failure to comply with the nuclear agreement due to Iran’s failure to comply with its commitments by continuing to increase its nuclear program.
In this sense, he asserted that Iran “does not see the need to sign a new JCPOA,” according to information collected by the Iranian news agency Tasnim. Iran, Russia, the United States, Great Britain, China, France and Germany signed the nuclear pact in 2015, the fulfillment of which allowed the lifting of the economic and financial sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, the United States and the European Union against Iran.
However, in May 2018, Washington abandoned the pact and reinstated sanctions against Iran, arguing that Tehran was violating the agreement and developing nuclear weapons, although the rest of the countries stated that they were willing to maintain the agreement.
