Köln – She wants to sing her way back to Ballermann!
With singer Jasmin Herren (44), all signs point to a new beginning: It was only on Monday that she announced two years after the death of her husband Willi Herren († 45) to have a man by her side again. New music by the Cologne native is now being released.
“This is my first title since 2018,” she says. “We’re drinking again” will be released on Friday. Gentlemen: “The song has a modern pop character, I want to live up to my name. This is Mallorca style!”
The new one at her side has to accept that new songs and performances are now the order of the day. “Music is the most important thing in my life right now. I can’t get enough of it.”
After Willis’ death, she felt like mourning instead of tracks for a long time. “I never thought in my whole life that I would muster this energy again. Now I feel like I have people around me who take me seriously and see my potential. That heals many an open wound.”
Money shortage should end
But she also wants to replenish her household budget with it. Most recently, Jasmin Herren was in need of money after receiving death threats. “Of course, that also serves my cash register. I will fight as I have in this business for 18 years.”
How have their songs changed? “It’s on your face music now.” She sings about alcohol, but says: “I’m usually sober when I perform. I rarely drink – at most a Kölsch with a meal.”
Music should appeal to young party people
At her side is student teacher Philipp Bender (22), who wrote Herren’s party hits and has so far mainly been on carnival stages. She: “He brings me into the new age with his talent. I want to be close to the young audience.”
Her goal is clear: “I see myself in Mallorca until the end of my life, I have lived on the island for 15 years. That’s in my heart!”
