King Charles III shares Christmas message with sustainable decoration

LONDON.- He king Charles III of England offer his second message of Christmas from the Buckingham Palace in front of a living tree decorated with sustainable ornaments. The message will be broadcast at 3pm on Monday, the monarch’s second Christmas message since he ascended the throne but the first since his official coronation in May.

The natural ornaments placed on the tree were made with wood, dried oranges, brown glass, pine cones and paper. The tree will be replanted later, according to the palace.

Carlos has championed environmental causes such as protecting wildlife and fighting climate change long before they were popular, for much of his life. This month he gave a speech at the start of the United Nations COP28 climate summit in Dubai.

Second Christmas as monarch

Last year, in his first Christmas message as monarch, Charles remembered his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and paid tribute to the “selfless dedication” of British public service workers.

Many of those workers spent much of the year in a wage dispute with the government, disrupting transportation, education and lengthening already considerable hospital waiting lists after doctors, nurses and ambulance workers went on strike, some, several. times a year during 2023.

While Elizabeth delivered her message from a desk, last year Charles was shown standing next to a Christmas tree in the church in the grounds of Windsor Castle, where his parents are buried.

This year he will speak from a room in Buckingham Palace that overlooks the balcony where members of the royal family gathered after his coronation ceremony.
