No, he’s not really that old yet, Liam Neeson so it’s a centenary but well over a hundred roles. He’s been around for a while now, the Irishman. Ever since 1977 to be exact, when he played Jesus in the religious film Pilgrim’s Progress. After that, it rolled on with small roles and TV movies, until 1993, when the big breakthrough came and he became Oskar Schindler with the whole world.

Lately, he has mostly played one-man army, but now that an anniversary is to be celebrated, it will be with a classic. Namely Philip Marlowe. A hardboiled detective story, created by the author Raymond Chandler and portrayed several times on the big screen, not least by Humphrey Bogart himself. But now it is Liam Neeson’s turn to shoulder the heavy mantle. Other roles are played by, among others, Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Colm Meaney, Alan Cumming and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The film will be called Marlowe in short, it is directed by Neil Jordan and has a cinema premiere on February 15th.
