A first class festival: On March 25th and 26th, 2023, the DASA working world exhibition in Dortmund will once again be transformed into a creative ideas laboratory for the 6th time. Extraordinary makers and hobbyists present what they have made in backyards and garages, attics and gardens. Crafting, building, exploring, experimenting, upcycling and above all having fun are the focus. More than 30 stands invite you to a colorful round tour between craftsmanship and high-tech.

Traditional projects and new, offbeat ideas will be present at Maker Faire Ruhr. The Ruhr area has been steaming and smoking for centuries, so that the steampunk scene is particularly well represented in the impressive setting of the DASA steel hall. Regular guests are always welcome, such as “Dance on Ruins” with upcycling expert Thomas Zigahn from Dortmund, who creates inspirational new things from seemingly worthless things. At his side, Paula Pongratz is particularly popular with children with her “post-apocalyptic jewellery”, which offers creative chaos for further participation.

Also at the start are hackers and 3D printing enthusiasts who bring amazing things to light with their machines. We can look forward to new objects such as a clever lawn mower or a feather-light airship. If you still want to take part as a Maker or exhibitor: The Call for Makers is open until February 1st!

Also new this year is the connection to the current special exhibition “FOODPRINTS” about nutrition. It invites you to a very special supermarket and presents a tasteful mix of historical information and snacks for the future. The centerpiece is the so-called “tasteLAB” with unusual tastings. There is a mealworm workshop here, among other things.

As a family excursion destination, DASA also offers plenty for the children. The children’s laboratory or the Freie Aktive Schule Wülrath with numerous hands-on offers are also there. There is a new student project on cosplay, which brings the world of comics to Dortmund in a colorful and exciting way. Eye-catchers such as the Abacus Theater with its retro-futuristic vehicles or the ever-popular R2D2-Builders-Club continue to be coveted photo motifs.

The DASA itself as an exhibition venue is made for such a colorful hustle and bustle. Working worlds to try out unfold on 13,000 square meters of exhibition space. Whether industrial robots, electron microscopes, tunnel construction, helicopters or excavators: many things await those who are keen to discover. There is therefore hardly a more suitable backdrop for makers, which is brought to a lively hustle and bustle by additional demonstrations and workshops on the last weekend in March.

The Maker Faire Ruhr in the DASA is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Tickets are already available online at www.makerfaire-ruhr.com. Standard admission costs 9.27 euros, reduced 5.76 euros, children under the age of six only pay 1.53 euros.

Note: As the licensor, Maker Media GmbH, which belongs to Heise Medien, is not the organizer of Maker Faire Ruhr.
