Man arrested for trying to murder his ex-partner in El Salvador

San Salvador.- Agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) captured a man for trying to kill his ex-partner with a firearm in El Salvador, the Security body reported this Saturday.

This is William Francisco Seseña Ordoñez, who fired two shots at the victim in the abdomen, indicated the PNC and noted that “the victim is being treated in a care center.”

The Police located Seseña Ordoñez and captured him in the western department of Santa Ana, and he will be accused of the crimes of attempted homicide and sexual assault on a minor and incompetent, since they have a valid arrest warrant for sexual assault, adds the source.

The feminist Organization of Salvadoran Women for Peace (Ormusa) registered some 12 violent deaths of women until last March in El Salvador.

The organization has indicated that, “despite the decrease in homicides and femicides in El Salvador, the Violence against women persists, since the motives and actors are diverse” and the suspension of constitutional guarantees under an emergency regime since last March “has not managed to contain femicides.”

Currently, state institutions have kept secret or deny access to data on violence, including information on femicide.

Amnesty International (AI) has considered El Salvador one of the most dangerous countries in the world for girls and women due to the rates of femicide and the high levels of sexual violence they face.
